Let me start by saying that I love Pinterest. It is a great discovery tool and I really find great inspiration there for new recipes as well as for other aspects of my life. But I find that with all my enthusiasm to start pinning ideas to remember for later (ahem…like quiet book templates, which I swear I will one day get around to making…in time for my son to take it with him to university most likely), I don’t find it to be the most practical tool for organising recipes I have already made and love. So I was thrilled to discover the flexibility Yummly offers.
Similar to Pinterest, Yummly offers a visual smorgasbord, offering you top trending recipes, recipes themed to the season, and recommendations based on the recipes you have already yummed. As you can see, the trend has already moved on from everything pumpkin to a post-Thanksgiving detox.
I love that I can curate my recipes into collections, all from the same yum, making it easy to see which collections you have already added a recipe to.
Another unique feature of Yummly, which any allergy sufferer or allergy mom (or dad!) is going to be thrilled to discover is the ability to customize your taste preferences to account for food allergies and other dietary restrictions, making recipe discovery a much more exciting experience (yes, that is right – you may discover a recipe you can actually make without substitutions!)
Using Yummly is simple. Once you’ve created an account and defined your preferences, you can discover recipes by browsing the recipe suggestions or performing a search. You can save recipes directly from within the Yummly platform by simply clicking on ‘yum’ to add a recipe to your recipe box – use the checkboxes to add it to your collections. You can also add recipes that you find on other sites either by clicking on the Yummly sharing icon or by using the Yummly browser extension.
And finding your saved recipes is easy thanks to the visible buttons in the top right corner, which give you quick access to your recommendations, your recipe box and collections, and also the ability to add a new recipe (say goodbye to all of those recipes jotted down on scraps of paper), or even ask a cooking question.
Yummly is sure to become a favourite cooking resource. Now that you know how to use Yummly, to get started, why not yum your favourite Accidentally Crunchy recipes here.

This is great, Sarah! Thanks for sharing! I just found out about Yummly a couple of days ago and was completely clueless about how to use it. I will definitely be referring back to this.

Hi Tiffany!
I completely stumbled upon it myself, but once I saw all the filter options they give I became a loyal user. It is so nice to be able to search for recipes and know I will get results that I can actually use!
Thanks for stopping by!
